Royo increases its productivity thanks to the implementation of the Lean culture
“On the road to excellence 2018.” This is the name of the award that Royo received last December for being a company capable of successfully implementing the Lean system. A strategy that has its origin in the automotive sector and allows companies to reduce costs, improve processes and eliminate waste, increasing customer satisfaction and improving profit margins.
This management system has not only allowed our company to overcome the economic crisis, but also to continue growing.
The success of Lean in Royo is mainly due to the involvement of its teams and management, which have defined a clear strategy and have endowed it with all the necessary resources, both human and financial, making the Lean method part of Royo’s DNA. If we go back to its beginnings, this management model has always had the inverted pyramid in mind, it is the operators who bring added value in the daily process and an opportunity for continuous improvement.
Effort and dedication have been reflected in a high improvement in productivity from the beginning of its implementation in 2010 until now. Specifically, sales have increased by 40% with the same personnel, increasing by 50% the number of units produced per hour. Also, accidents at work have been reduced by 70%, the level of services has been increased by 60% and the production time of the product has been reduced by 80%.
Last Thursday, we received in our plant representatives of the main companies that form Lean Community, the network of professionals from all sectors interested in implementing Lean culture in their organisations, and who were responsible for rewarding Royo in the III edition of Lean Community Awards.
Félix Lafuente, General Manager of Royo Spain; Javier Padrós, Operations Manager; Inma Ribes, Assembly Unit Manager and Continuous Improvement Promoter and Carmen Sánchez, Continuous Improvement Engineer were in charge of receiving the presentations of this long-awaited visit. This visit has allowed us to share, in our plant, the experience gained from the beginning of the implantation of the Lean culture up to the present time. The human value, as the key to success, and the development of the implementation of this management model in Royo have been the main axes of the journey.
